Dosage FormEar Drop

NIAGENT Ear Drops is a multicomponent otic formulation combining antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and local anaesthetic actions in a convenient topical dosage form. Its formulation is designed for professional management of appropriately diagnosed external ear conditions where infection, inflammation and discomfort may occur together. With its broad therapeutic positioning and practical ear-drop presentation, NIAGENT is a valuable addition to the Opthenia PCD Pharma ENT portfolio, offering physicians a comprehensive option for selected otic infections under appropriate clinical guidance.

It is intended for selected ear conditions involving susceptible bacterial or fungal infection with associated inflammation and discomfort, when prescribed appropriately.

Lignocaine offers local anaesthetic action that can help reduce discomfort temporarily.

No. The condition and integrity of the tympanic membrane should be assessed before use, particularly because certain ingredients require precautions in cases of perforation.

NIAGENT should preferably be used after appropriate examination of the ear. The tympanic membrane should be assessed before prescribing, particularly because topical aminoglycosides may carry ototoxicity concerns when the middle ear is exposed. The recommended dose and treatment duration should be followed carefully, and prolonged unsupervised use should be avoided. Patients should be advised to report worsening pain, discharge, dizziness, hearing changes or significant irritation. The dropper tip should remain clean and should not contact the ear surface.

Ear drops containing these active ingredients may occasionally cause temporary burning, stinging, irritation or discomfort immediately after administration. Hypersensitivity reactions such as itching, rash or increased local irritation can occur in susceptible patients. Prolonged or inappropriate topical corticosteroid use may potentially encourage microbial overgrowth or delay recognition of an underlying infection. Aminoglycosides require particular caution when the tympanic membrane is not intact because of potential ototoxicity concerns. Persistent worsening symptoms, hearing changes, severe dizziness or allergic reactions require prompt medical assessment.

NIAGENT combines an aminoglycoside antibiotic, corticosteroid, antifungal and local anaesthetic to provide a multi-action approach for appropriately selected external ear conditions. Gentamicin acts against susceptible bacteria by interfering with bacterial protein synthesis. Clotrimazole disrupts fungal cell-membrane integrity by affecting ergosterol synthesis. Beclomethasone helps reduce inflammatory swelling, redness and itching, while lignocaine provides local anaesthetic action to help relieve ear discomfort. Together, these components address infection-associated inflammation and symptomatic discomfort when clinically appropriate.
